Dog of the Month - Freya
Freya is a beautiful, loving black German Shepherd (Possibly Belgian Shepherd). She is approximately five years old. Freya came from a bad situation and is seeking an understanding and committed family who will give her the love and care she deserves. Freya spent most of her life in a barn breeding litters of puppies before coming into rescue. This neglect and abuse took a toll on her body and she has been diagnosed with Megacolon. This means her colon is stretched and she has constipation and digestion issues. With a high quality GI food and medical management she has shown some improvement, but to adopt her you must be committed to feeding her a special GI food for life and understanding that she sufferers from constipation and bowel issues.
Despite her past, Freya is a wonderful, loving happy dog. She is a little shy initially but lives with three other dogs and two cats and gets a long great with them. Although we suspect she had never been in a house before coming into rescue, she has quickly learned to love her foster family. Her sweet nature and expressive brown eyes will quickly win her a place in your heart. Freya enjoys chasing balls and keeping them away from her foster brothers, walks with her dog walker, snuggles and pets from her people. Although she has some special medical needs, she is loving companion and is enjoying every minute of her new life as a family dog. She is learning to do her business outside but still has accidents. She needs to go outside frequently so a fenced yard is a must for Freya. A home with another doggie companion and where she is not left alone all day would be ideal. She has learned some commands and will sit for a treat and go in her crate when instructed to. Freya has been spayed and will come with her vet certificate. She will repay your care with love and doggie kisses. Freya's adoption fee will be $300 and if you are interested in knowing more about her or adding her to your family please send us an application from our website so her foster mom can get back to you.
Working Alongside SCAAR - 1105 Photography
Sarah Mitchell of 1105 Photography is a major player in helping us find our animals homes. She showcases our animals in their best light and gives us quality images to post for their adoption pictures. Her photographs stand out and catch the eye of potential adopters. Through them, they are able to see not just the look of the animal they are interested in, but also its personality. We can't thank Sarah enough for her support, and for the constant work she does for us.
